Pretty in Sprinkles

i was looking through one of my favorite blogs Sweet a Polita and saw this amazing cake here and decided to try it out for myself.  the vanilla bean cake layers came out wonderful even though i didn't have any vanilla bean paste or vanilla bean its self i just added extra vanilla extract to the batter.  i guess it could have add a more vanilla taste if i had the bean but my husband had no complaints.  the frosting on the other hand i wasn't too happy with it was very liquid like and i like my frosting thick so i put it in the refrigerator to let it set up for 30 minutes.  since this was my first real attempt at a cake not a cupcake or pound cake but an actual cake i think i did pretty good.  it came out incredible looking and the tasted of it was sweet.  next time i'll just try a new frosting recipe with it.
